Glass Display Cases

100% Dust Proof • Bespoke • Glass • 15 Internal Colours

Acorn Displays produce hand-built, bespoke 2mm (4mm for larger sizes) clear glass display cases that sit on top of a wooden base and are finished with an internal suede colour of your choice.

The gilt finish wooden trim edge keeps the glass top in place, giving a professional display that is 100% dust free.

Pricing

To price your display case, simply use the following formula:

Add together the Length, Width and Height and multiply by £1.20 per cm OR £3.00 per inch. Mirror backs available at 10% extra.

Examples:
20cm Long x 15cm Wide x 10cm High = (20+15+10=45cm) 45cm x £1.20 = £48.00.
8 inch Long x 6 inch Wide x 4 inch High = (8+6+4=18 inches) 18 inches x £3.00 = £54.00.

We can make small cases but the minimum price per case is £40.

All case sizes and prices are made to the internal glass dimensions. To work out the external size add 2cm (0.75 inches) to the length width and height.

About Acorn Displays

Hi – I’m Shawn Whitehead, the owner of Acorn Displays which is based in Leicestershire, East Midlands.

My first display case, built in 1985, was not that dissimilar to those I produce today.

It was to protect a model hanger I built and a 1:72 scale aircraft that my dad built to go with it. I followed this in 1987 with a case that was also built to house an aircraft, this time a 1:32 scale Matchbox Tiger Moth kit that I had built.

This was for my school ‘A’ level design project. The brief was simple “Find a storage problem and solve it” and so I did solve it. This design simply stopped any damage to my models – and keeping the dust off them was an added benefit!

In the early 1990’s I saw a gap in the market so I started making cases complete with aircraft models inside them – from Spitfires to Hurricanes and Pitts Specials.

I also fulfilled commissions for specific aircraft and colour schemes, but increasingly I was told how lovely my aircraft were – but could they just order a case. Listening to the market I started making just glass display cases and I have never looked back – the orders have kept flooding in.

I always ask what is to be displayed in each case. The list is endless – from original Thunderbird’s puppets to gems, asteroids, ships, tanks, figurines, stuffed animals, cakes, etc.

Today, thirty plus years on, I still love making them. My highlight is when I get a photo back showing my case proudly displayed!
